There are a variety of ways to travel to Brittany and France from the travelling from the UK.
By Sea
Most people travel to Brittany via ferry from numerous ports on the south coast of the
UK such as Dover, Portsmouth and Newhaven. Ferry prices vary enormously but luckily the Internet is a great place to shop round for cheap ferry
crossings.
A special mention must be made of Speedferries (see their link below). Crossings can be purchased for as little as £25 for a car and 4 passengers. The
crossing is quick, around 55 mins. The drawback of this crossing is that it takes around 5 hours drive to Brittany. Of course since the crossing
is so cheap you can always stay in an hotel on route and still save lots of money. Its a very easy drive from Boulogne on uncrowded motorway. There
are some toll roads so make sure you have some change handy.

When booking so its wise to shop round and look for special offers. Also consider the distance you may have to drive when
you get off the ferry. It may not be worthwhile saving £50 if you have a much longer drive when you get off the ferry. Also consider
travelling on the ferry as a foot passenger and hiring a car when you get to Brittany. This could work out a much cheaper
option. The disadvantage is that you cant bring back much inexpensive beer and wine !
