The original cottages / gites are approximately 150-200 years old, however, have been tastefully renovated over the past 5 years to a high standard. The
properties sit within almost 2 acres of gardens laid mainly to lawn, and as you enter through the main the main gates, there are separate sweeping
gravel driveways with ample parking for each property. The cottages are fully renovated with original beams throughout and central heating.
We prefer to refer to the properties as a cottages rather than gites. Traditionally gites were basic offering low cost self-catering holiday
accommodation. The meaning of gite is now a little blurred and many people refer to any French self-catering holiday accommodation as a gite.
As you enter Corlay Cottages through the main gates the gravel drive splits into two, take the right hand drive to arrive at ………
The Main Residence – Corlay Cottage
As you enter the property through a double glazed solid entrance door leading into Entrance Hall, with a beamed ceiling, exposed stone wall and tiled
floor. The staircase is straight ahead with storage beneath.
Kitchen/ Diner
The Kitchen/Diner (6m x 4m) is fully equipped with a dishwasher, large gas hob, double oven, fridge, freezer, toaster and coffee maker, kettle and
microwave. There is a large table, with generous seating for 6 chairs, a beamed ceiling, tiled floor and exposed stone wall.
Living room
From the entrance hall you enter the living room. This is a large room (6.30m x 4m), the centrepiece being a huge stone fireplace with wood burning
fire. There are two large designer leather settees with matching easy chair. The room has a TV, English satellite system, an impressive music system
with amps, DVD and video.
French doors lead onto the large decking area and heated swimming pool.
There is also a selection of reading materials, board games, DVDs and videos available for use by guests.
Bedroom 1
Bedroom 1 (6m x 4m). is the main bedroom of the cottage. It has double-glazed Velux windows to the front and rear, radiator, solid wood floor, two
built in wardrobes and a built in dressing table with drawers under. This bedroom is really spacious and for a young family could easily accommodate
up to 2 cots.
Bedroom 2
Bedroom 2 (4.20m x 3m) is a flexible room with a double bunk bed single bunk over the top, so would be suitable for either 1 or 2 children sharing
or indeed a couple. This room has a double glazed Velux window facing to the front of the house, and has a wardrobe and a bedside table.
Bedroom 3
Slightly smaller than bedroom 2, bedroom 3 (4m x 3m) contains 2 single beds, a wardrobe and bedside table. This room has a double glazed Velux
window that faces out towards the gardens to the rear of the property.
NOTE: Duvets and Pillows are supplied with sheets, pillowcases, towels and tea towels.
Bathroom
The bathroom contains a bath, with a shower fitting, a sink and low-level WC.
Downstairs Toilet/ Utility / Cloakroom
This contains a low level WC, a sink and a washing machine and dryer. Central heating controls for the house and swimming pool are also located here.
The Garden
There extensive gardens to the front and rear of the property totaling almost 2 acres, partly landscaped and partly natural. Directly in front of the
cottage there is a stone patio with garden furniture and fire hole, ideal for sipping wine beneath the stars at any time of year. There is also a BBQ
and sun house containing a variety of sporting equipment for the more active. This includes bikes, badminton net and rackets, a kite, a football and
Frisbees. There are also a number of toys for infants. The lawn continues on a raised level to the front of the property where a large tree provides
for a rope swing. There is also a large trampoline and goal posts on this level.
To the rear of the property is beautiful decking area with a heated swimming pool (approx 9m x 5m) in the centre. It is completely surrounded by
wooden balustrades with gates (and combination locks) to the front and rear. The pool as such is completely fenced off to comply with French safety
laws and has an entry alarm, giving peace of mind if small children are playing unattended. On the patio area there is an additional table and chairs
with sun loungers with views over the additional lawned area to the beech wood beyond.
The overall garden area which consists of large lawned areas, a wooded area, an orchard and natural land, is a haven of tranquility for many
species of birds and wildlife…. as well as our guests. Its ideal for children being private and away from any roads and there is ample room for
parking. The gardens back onto to open fields on one side and a beech wooded area on the other side which has a stream flowing through it, making it
an ideally situated for country walks.
The Annex at Corlay Cottages
As you enter through the main gates and follow the gravel drive straight on, the drive sweeps around in front of The Annex. The Annex is a totally
self contained, detached, single storey cottage with 1 bedroom. Although it is screened off from the Main Cottage for privacy, larger families wishing
to take advantage of the flexible accommodation may open the gate to provide easy access between both properties. The Annex occupies a secluded position
with a courtyard in front with generous parking and views over an original stone longere ruin and beech trees beyond.

The lounge/ diner has a window to the front, exposed beams, laminated floor and a fitted wood burner. There is a TV and DVD player, a sofa and
dining table with 4 chairs. Books, DVDs and board games are available for the enjoyment of our guests
Kitchen (approx 3m x 2m)
The kitchen contains fitted units, oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, kettle, coffee maker and toaster.
Shower Room
Contains a shower, a sink, a mirror low level WC and tiled floor.
Bedroom (3.2m x 3.2m)
The bedroom contains a double bed with wardrobe, a window to the front and a laminated floor.
Outside of the property is a decking area with patio furniture and BBQ
Corlay Cottages are situated just 2 kilometres from the lovely lake of Allineuc which has a man made beach bars and restaurants and also not far
way is the outstanding Lake Guerledan which also has man made beaches, restaurants, bars and numerous water sports. The town of Corlay is just a few
kilometres away and has shops, restaurants, banks, boulangeries and all local amenities.
